Replacement Note 7’s Still Exploding Samsung Recall

Samsung’s ongoing struggle

In the latest setback for Samsung it has been reported that yet another one of their Galaxy Note 7’s decided to explode during the boarding process of a plane at the Louisville international airport last Wednesday. Samsung has known for a while about its phones dangerous fault in its hardware and has recalled these devices sometime last month. The problem is that this phone happened to be one of the replacement devices.

Nobody has been injured during this incident. However, smoke from the device caused more than 75 people to be evacuated from the plane. Samsung released a statement stating the following.

“Until we are able to retrieve the device, we cannot confirm that this incident involves the new Note 7… We are working with the authorities and Southwest now to recover the device and confirm the cause. Once we have examined the device we will have more information to share.”

These incidents with the note 7’s do not seem to be affecting the overall desirability of the phone, as it continues to gets 4 to 5 star ratings on top review sites. Despite this Samsung has stated they are indefinitely suspending all sales and replacements of Note 7 devices for the time being. It would seem that Samsung is having a rough few months.

As a current Note 5 user I pause to wonder what kind of technical misstep could have happened during production, that may have caused this problem to happen this constantly across devices sold (around 0.1 percent of devices sold is still a considerable amount) I looked for reports of pervious note devices having this problem and could not find any (unless it has been buried with this recent news)

Hopefully Samsung can take the steps necessary to redeem themselves in the public image after this series of unfortunate events.
